Prasiolite is also called vermarine. Prasiolite is the result of heat treating amethyst and citrine from sources in Brazil and Arizona. The sources for this gem of a gemstone have apparently run out.
Prasiolite is a relatively rare and relatively inexpensive, but is a true collector's gemstone. Its popularity has recently been growing as it is being offered more and more to gem collectors and connoisseurs.
